Loyens & Loeff congratulates Northwind with refinancing offshore wind farm

On 30 June 2017 Northwind secured approximately EUR 525,000,000 in funding for the refinancing of its 216 megawatt offshore wind farm located on the Lodewijkbank, 37km off the Belgian coast consisting of 72 wind turbines.

The refinancing is financed by senior facilities provided by a syndicate of lenders, including ASN Bank, Belfius, BNP Paribas, Rabobank, ING, KBC, Natixis, Société Générale, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Eksportkreditt Norge.

Loyens & Loeff assisted the Northwind team and its shareholders from the early stages up to financial close. Jones Day advised the lenders.

The Northwind wind farm is owned by Aspiravi Offshore, Parkwind and Sumitomo Corporation.

Belwind, Nobelwind, Norther

The Loyens & Loeff team has extensive experience with renewable energy projects. The team also acted as counsel to Belwind (165 MW), Nobelwind (165 MW) and Norther (370 MW) in relation to the financing and the construction of their offshore wind farms in the North Sea and assisted the lenders and arrangers with the non-recourse financing of the different phases of the C-Power (325 MW) and Rentel (309 MW) wind farms.
