About Laurent Mertens
He specialises in transactional and litigation matters. Laurent has particular experience in cross-border corporate transactions and litigation. His clients include private equity houses and listed companies, mainly active in the industrial, energy and financial sector in Belgium, France and the rest of Europe.
Laurent is a regular speaker at conferences on corporate law matters, and has written various articles on partial demerger and private international law related subjects. He has been a part-time Teaching Assistant in Private International Law at the Université libre de Bruxelles for five years.
He has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 1999.
Laurent holds a Bachelor in Law, a bachelor in Political Sciences and a Master in law from Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium, 1999) as well as a LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law (New York, USA, 2003).
